The City of Los Angeles had and still has TNR programs. They are run by private groups. There are many colonies all over the City. There are colonies in the flower mart, police stations, on the beach, all over, yet they still have to euthanize cats. Most of the cats that get dumped at the shelter are owned tame cats. There are not enough homes. No amount of TNR will keep people from dumping their pet cats at the shelter. There really is no comparison between seven City shelters and one small TNR colony on a campus. Apples and oranges.

I've been at Valley over three periods of time: in the early 1980s, from 2003 to 2005, and now. There has NEVER been a theft problem at the bookstore. NEVER. Nobody would be fool enough to shoplift or steal from the LAVC bookstore. You have to give your student ID number when you make a significant purchase, and before then, you had to give your social security number. When you buy books, you have to show your class schedule. Seriously, the "security theatre" at the bookstore has got to stop. It's pointless and it only serves to annoy students.

I was upset and angered after reading this article for numerous reasons, but mostly because it reads like an ADVERTISEMENT. I have been attending Valley for 3 years and have never, ever known or cared about the difference between henry's and hugo's stupid taco war. By writing about these types of semantical "debates" (which I question if they even exist), you negate other issues on Valley's campus, such as the exploitative prices and horrible food offerings at our cafeteria.
The Valley Star is akin to another well known propaganda machine: the LA Weekly. I really feel disgusted with the "opinion" article and will be reluctant to read what the Valley Star will try to sell me next.
