Hello Charmaine. I spoke with you recently while you were visiting WKCR in New York City. I was stationed at Clark Air Force Base in 1961-1962, when I was a teenager. As I shared with you, the first Jazz club I ever went into was one in Olongapo City. Imagine my surprise to see pinoys and pinays doing Billy Eckstine and Sarah Vaughan. I am now 66 years of age, but my memories of the Philippines are vivid. Thank God for people like you. I witnessed many of the legacies of colonialism in your country, and it warms my heart that you not only were able to bring yourself above the expectations of a Filipina, but you have the social conscience and sense of history that allows you to reach back and help others like yourself. The atrocities I saw committed against Philippine people was during the 'liberal' Kennedy administration. I don't even want to imagine what happened under Nixon, Reagan, Bush and Bush. I love your music, your sense of commitment to right wrongs, and your beauty. Keep on going forward, Sister.
