    Valley Star staff brings home 13 awards from the Journalism Association of Community Colleges.

    The Valley Star staff made good use of their two-week break from printing by attending the Journalism Association of Community Colleges Southern California conference at CSU Fullerton, bringing home 13 awards including General Excellence. The Journalism Association of Community Colleges is a non-profit educational corporation dedicated to community college journalism in California.

    The Valley Star staff attend state conference and return with numerous awards.

    The Valley Star made the best use of their three-week furlough from printing by winning awards at the Journalism Association of Community Colleges' 55th state convention in downtown Los Angeles. The staff was recognized individually for 11 awards, and was also awarded the Pacesetter Award.

    Valley Star Wins General Excellence Award

    Valley College's "Valley Star" newspaper competed in the Southern California Journalism Association of Community Colleges conference last weekend at Cal State Fullerton. The conference comprised of various competitions and workshops awarded several Valley Star staff members with individual awards and a general excellence award to the spring 2009 edition of the paper.

    Valley Star Wins Big At State Convention

    The Valley Star's staff and advisors attended the Journalism Association of Community Colleges state conference this past weekend in Sacramento, earning the "General Excellence" award as well as 14 individual honors. The 4-day event showcased the writing and photographic talent of community college students across California.

    Valley Star Staff Wins Awards at J.A.C.C.

    The Valley Star received its ninth General Excellence award in the last ten semesters at the Journalism Association of Community Colleges' Southern California convention, which was held Nov. 2 and 3 at Cal State Fullerton. General Excellence, which was awarded to 15 community college newspapers, is the association's most prestigious award and is given to those publications whose content shows an overall standard of excellence.

    Newspaper follows its third straight "General Excellence" nod with first-ever "Pacesetter" as one of the top community college publications in the state.

    The staff and advisors of The Valley Star were honored with their first-ever Pacesetter award at the Journalism Association of Community Colleges statewide conference in Los Angeles last weekend. The award, given to only four publications this year, represents JACC's highest honor.

    Valley Star Awards High at JACC

    The Valley Star racked up 17 journalism awards and the Crown magazine scored four at the recent Journalism Association of Community Colleges convention in Sacramento. More than 50 community colleges statewide participated in the event that featured mail-in, bring-in and on the spot competitions.

    The Valley Star Shines at JACC

    Amidst the crowd of more than 560 students and advisers from 49 colleges, the Valley Star staff came away with five awards from the Journalism Association of Community Colleges (JACC) statewide conference. The conference took place in Sacramento at the Doubletree hotel from April 4 through 6.

    The Valley Star is a student- run newspaper in a learning lab environment. As a supplement to lessons in class, the Star staff participates in the Journalism Association of Community Colleges, JACC, conferences each semester. The spring semester class attends the statewide conference while the fall semester students attend the Southern Regional Conference.
