Republican National Bonanza: Praise Bush, Blast Kerry

James Dabbagian

Issue date: 9/8/04 Section: Opinion
Through last week, The Republican Party has gathered like roaches into New York for their attempt to take out the opposition.

Since its beginning on August 30, the Republican National Convention turned New York into a land of police versus protestors. However, the convention itself is the hit of the day.

"This week, millions of Americans, not all Republicans, weigh our claim on their support for the two men who have led our country in these challenging times with moral courage and firm resolve," Senator John McCain (R-AZ) said August 30.

Yes, all Republicania are gathering together to talk about their two favorite guys: George W. Bush and Dick Cheney.

When the Democrats had their convention, the members were told to keep the Bush-bashing to a minimum, and for the most part, there was no Bush insulting at all.

Unfortunately, I regret to inform you that the Republicans fail to show a similar form of maturity.

"Kerry would let Paris decide when America needs defending. I want Bush to decide," stated "Democrat" Senator Zell Miller (D-GA) during a speech at the Convention September 1. "John Kerry has been more wrong, more weak and more wobbly than any other national figure. As a war protestor, Kerry blamed our military."

Actually, Kerry wanted the United Nations to decide if we should fight, not Paris. After all, we already got the terrorists against us, do we really want the established nations of the world against us as well?

President Bush's wife, Laura Bush, who also joined the speeches September 1, said "The No Child Left Behind Act provides historic levels of funding with an unprecedented commitment to higher standards, strong accountability and proven methods of instruction. We are determined to provide a quality education for every child in America."

It certainly sounds great, except for one thing. Bush decided to blow almost all the money for the NCLBA for other areas, leaving educators holding the bag.
