Head Automatica's release of "Decadence" last month came out as a sort of breakthrough for Glassjaw's lead singer Darryl Palumbo, who decided to start a side project where he could have fun and just party, instead of something angst-ridden like Glassjaw. "We're an electronic cock-rock band," said Palumbo about Head Automatica.

For a new band, they succeeded in making a record that sounds interesting and all their own. It's an eclectic combination of melody, percussion and vocals incorporating elements such as punk, reggae, ska, electronica and just straight up alternative.

"Brooklyn Burning," is a perfect example of this band's musical diversity. The track starts with up-beat drums like a dance tune and guitar thrown into the mix, combining dance and alternative.

The mixed lineup consists of, "Solid Gold Telephone," which is reggae-influenced love song with soothing vocals.. "Please Please Please (Young Hollywood)," "Disco Hades," and "Head Automatica Sound System," are mellow songs with good beats and personal lyrics that listeners can relate to: "This time I wanna find a hope in me as big as the stars in my eyes." "The Razor" and "At the Speed of a Yellow Bullet," are the fast paced alternative/punk offerings on the album.
