Like its 2000 predecessor, "Dubya 2004" also portrays the First family as pawns of the Devil or "He Who Shall Not Be Named." The play centers around FBI agent Maggie Sparrow (Jenette Goldstein), a 9/11 widow who unveils an evil conspiracy to "engulf the globe."
Dubya (Connor Duffy) is a drawstring doll-carrying mama's boy. Former First Couple Barr and Poppy (Alicia Wollerton and Troy Joe Vincent) expertly manipulate Dubya while keeping close tabs on the polls.
Even thick-accented Arnie (Tom Kiesche) a governor and former action-adventure movie star, subscribes to this He Who serving clan. Meanwhile, Arnie's loyal wife, Marnie (Yvonne Fisher), has an agenda of her own.
Familiar specters visit throughout the play, adding a nostalgic touch of other families who fell from grace. M.K. and Ash (Shannon Tesser and Emily Marver), Dubya's daughters who hate to be called "the twins," add to the brew of humor, gore, and sexual decadence, gleefully annihilating anyone who thwarts He Who's plans.
Reprising his role as the media manager responsible for "filtered and altered news," Jacob Sidney also takes producer credit this time around.
The socio-political siren that the writer sets off through each character is indeed an alarming one.
Although he doesn't consider himself a "political person," Jordan felt that he needed to do something with the 2004 elections looming. After the turmoil from the 9/11 tragedy, he felt people needed to be informed, especially today's youth.
"Find out what's going on in the world, and you'll find really fascinating things and some incredible stuff. Take the time to find out, and if you're old enough, vote," Jordan said.
Catch the show before Oct. 15, Thursday thru Saturday at 8 p.m. at Sacred Fools Theater, 660 N. Heliotrope Dr., in Hollywood.
