A-One and Spinderella play the latest and hottest hip-hop and R&B music Monday through Friday from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. on radio station 100.3, The Beat.

Kyle Seller, who is interning at the station, said he enjoys working with A-One and Spinderella. "They ask for my input; it makes me feel like I'm a part of the show."

On this particular show, they are encouraging people to vote and are giving out tickets to R. Kelly and Jay-Z concerts.

A-One and Spinderella know how to communicate with their listeners, which accounts, in part, for the show's success.

"It's important to be social and have a good personality to be on the radio," Spinderella said.

Spinderella's radio experience began in New York at Hot 97.

"I started as a guest disc jockey at the Beat and eventually became a regular," she said.

Born and raised in Brooklyn, N.Y., Spinderella is a successful DJ, music producer and writer. She is one of the pioneers of hip-hop music and a prominent example of great achievement by a female artist.

Fans of hip-hop know Spinderella as the DJ for the Grammy-winning female trio Salt N' Pepa. Their songs became anthems for a new generation, opening the male-dominated doors of the hip-hop and urban music world to women.

"As members of Salt N' Pepa, we tried to send a positive message for the ladies," Spinderella said.

Spinderella is also the host, producer and programmer for the syndicated mix show "The Spin Cycle," which can be heard on Jamming 95.5 every Saturday night from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m.

Though she's already accomplished so much, Spinderella still has hopes for greater achievements, including owning her own radio station.

A-One was born in Wichita, Kan. He received a bachelor's degree from U.C. Riverside where he began his radio career at the campus radio station.

"Education is important. Take advantage of it," A-One said.
