As the Valley College men's water polo season starts to wind down, the team is trying to accomplish something that has never been done before in men's water polo history. That is finish in first place in the conference.
The Monarchs are currently in first place with a 4-0 conference record, and a 10-6 record overall.
Valley is fighting to maintain first place as conference play winds down.
"We still have a lot of work to do to win the number one seed," said head coach Jim McMillan.
The team played an alumni game last Friday, as former Valley water polo players came back to play against the current team. The alumni won 19-14, but that was more of a training session to the team, according to McMillan.
"This season is going real well," said McMillan. "The kids are working really hard and we are getting better as the season goes on. This is right where we wanted to be at this point in the season."
"This is my first year here and this is the first time the team has accomplished this, so I am really happy with how we are doing so far," said McMillan.
Valley's last home game is on Wednesday against Santa Monica College.
