Vice-President of Administration Tom Jacobsmeyer is asking for faculty, staff and student volunteers to become building marshals for the new
emergency response plan.
The plan will be in effect in about two months, according to Jacobsmeyer. Building marshals are responsible for assigned areas in the case of an emergency such as an earthquake, chemical spill or fire.
The Emergency Response Action Team, or ERATS, has evaluated and given input into the structure of the plan. The response team consists of 150 to 175 people including all plant facilities personnel, Sheriff's officials and building marshal volunteers.
"Then the plan will be completed from an operational standpoint," according to Jacobsmeyer.
The number of building marshals will vary from 30 to 70 depending on the semester; for instance, fewer marshals are needed during the winter and summer sessions.
