The Regional Workforce Collaborative held their first annual Business Appreciation Breakfast on May 12 to honor businesses and their employees that work with the job training program.
"Some of my employees are getting awards today because they worked well with the collaborative centers," said one of the representatives for the Van Nuys WorkSource Center, Tony Jaramillo. "I am happy to be here to recognize them."
More than 200 people attended the event in Monarch Hall to help honor the nine businesses that help refer jobs to people and train and retrain them in various jobs.
"This is an array of business services that did something to warrant this award," said Lennie Ciufo, director of Valley College Job Training. "Some are very involved with us and some not as much."
Speakers at the breakfast included speech communication professor Jim Marteney and Valley President Dr. Tyree Wieder. Award recipients included Galpin Ford President Karl Boeckmann and Medtronic Vice President of Human Resources Scott Sherman.
"We felt it was an excellent success because it celebrated what we do at job training and what our partners do," said Title Program Specialist Dale Beck.
