NEWSWEEK:

Newsweek has issued an apology regarding an article published this week. The article claimed that interrogators at Guantanamo Bay desecrated the Quaran in order to get information from prisoners. In a surge of violence resulting from the article, 15 people have been killed.

BUDGET WOES:

The LAPD has announced that its overtime budget is $8 million over the projected amount. With two months left in the LAPD's fiscal year, many have begun to question officers' paychecks, mainly court pay and their three-day workweek.

ICON CELEBRATED:

T.V. icon Gumby turns 50 this year and last week kicked off a series of events to mark the anniversary. The Lynn House Art Gallery in Anitoch, CA displayed memorabilia and played the short film "Gumbasia," where Gumby originated.
