"They all made an outstanding accomplishment," said Assistant Coach William Krauss. "This is a real big win for us and them."
Megan Winchell, Valentine Alberti and Matt Alberti qualified for the state championship, showing just how impressive the Monarch presence can be after all three walked away with medals.
Winchell earned two medals for the events she competed in, including a third place win with a time of 31.28 seconds in the 50-meter breaststroke and eighth in the 100-meter breaststroke.
"I am very happy with the outcome of this season," said Winchell. "I have to thank my coaches for giving me the workouts they did to get me here."
Valentine walked away with a medal, earning eighth place in the 100-meter freestyle with a time of 55.21. She also took eleventh in the 50- and 200-meter freestyles.
"I am very excited and would pat myself on the back for this accomplishment," said Valentine. "But without my coaches, I wouldn't be anywhere near the state championship."
Matt placed seventh in the 400 individual medley with a time of 4.13 seconds and tenth in the 200 individual medley and 200 backstroke.
"My mom was the person who pushed me through everything," said Matt. "But my coaches were everything in this accomplishment."
All three anticipate great semesters next year. While Winchell plans to use the water polo scholarship she received for California State University of Long Beach, both Matt and Valentine will return to Valley for another semester.
