This time, Goliath won.
The Valley College men's water polo team faced the defending Western Water Polo Association champions Saturday and lost 18-6.
The Monarchs' starting unit was no match for the Lions, which were NCAA semifinalist last year and are currently ranked 10th in the country.
"Today, we accomplished what we came here to do, which was to keep improving as a team," said Jim McMillan, head coach. "The team played well and it was a great experience for each of the players."
McMillan said he was proud of the effort from his players and goalkeeper Kevin Coyne said his team measured this game in other ways.
"We played our hardest and we gave our best effort from the very beginning," Coyne said. "That's the reason I'm satisfied about today's performance."
