Lack of Professionalism Needs to Stop Now

Professionals making bad choices need to seek other jobs with less responsibilities.

Many professionals in California are being charged with different types of misconduct pertaining to matters within their specialized field and it is unacceptable, unprofessional and disappointing. A successful and respected professional must have principles and dedication for their field or they risk losing the trust of the public.

Important positions should be given to people that can be trusted and are knowledgeable in that specific field. Instead we have citizens who come off as "nice guys" when in reality they need to be placed under citizen's arrest for being imposters. They portray the trusting and reliable people we expect them to be only to be revealed as careless and irresponsible people who deserve no sympathy. Principles learned on the job must be practiced outside of work as well.

Kimberly Nizato, a part-time veterinary employee, recently turned herself in to authorities after a significantly underweight German Shepard dog by the name of "Courage" was found at her home. Nizato was charged with one federal count of animal cruelty and a misdemeanor count for failure to provide care.

In the land of opportunity someone should make it clear to these people they must pick professions they can be fully dedicated to and strive for greatness. Unfortunately no one informed Ms. Nizato that she cannot care for other animals if she is negligent to her own or to any animal for that matter.

But the most disappointing news in recent months involves teachers having sexual relations, forced or consensual, with their underage students. Melissa Huckaby, a Sunday school teacher in Tracy, Calif. was charged for the murder and rape of an 8-year-old girl. She was a volunteer at a church where the congregation trusted her, and she disappointed everyone. In another case, a Burbank middle school teacher, Amy Beck, confessed to having sex with her 14-year-old male student. Teachers are a vital part of society and if they were fully dedicated to their career, students and coworkers, this type of behavior would be less likely to occur.

If you are not able to take your career seriously by offering dedication and respect then do us all a favor and find a less demanding profession, instead of inflicting pain on the innocents you prey on and let down.
