Many people want the latest in technology. 3D technology seems to be spreading quickly, but consumers need to consider if this kind of technology is something that is needed. It may be a "cool" feature, but it is not practical. It is most likely a product fit for some lifestyle only.
3D TV's already have issues, the glasses are a big factor to consider before buying this product. It's too expensive, for just a pair it would cost $149 if bought at Sony and $169 on Toshiba. It is not rechargeable either, costs batteries to maintain. It may not be kid friendly because it is a very fragile device. The purchase only comes with two pairs which is good for a couple, but not for a family who would want to enjoy a movie together.
"I think that these televisions are really just not that important." States Mario Flores, Junior at Valley College, "It seems like a waste of money. It is all something people want. It is not a necessity but a luxury. People need to learn better use of money instead of wasting it on televisions that has 3D features we can't really use for anything."
This 3D TV is not limited to 3D only, which is a good feature. It can be switched to be viewed as 2D if preferred. This gives the owner a choice. Another feature in these new 3D television is internet surfing. According to Samsung's official site, they have Internet on TV, their program called Internet@TV that requires a Samsung wireless LAN Adaptor, all you have to do is plug it into your TV's USB port and with one touch of the remote control you're connected. It seems like a great feature but it changes the thought of televisions, that is what computers are for. These televisions vary the cost depending on which company you buy and how big the screen you want.
"I think it's really cool." Tod Johnson, 24, Sony Consumer, "I think it is worth saving my money for. I would like to be able to see movies in a more realistic ways. Hopefully the prices would be more affordable in the future."
With all these new ways to see the television, it makes you wonder what other things we will see in the future of televisions.
