The 2010 American Motorcycle Association Supercross racing series will launch their 35th season in Anaheim on January 9. Three out of the first six races in the national series will be held at Angel Stadium between January and February 13. Riders and teams from around the world will be competing for the coveted championship, which will be announced at the end of the season in Las Vegas, Nevada. The third race in the series takes place at Angel Stadium on January 23, 2010. Race six in the series takes place at Angel Stadium on February 13, 2010. Tickets start at $35 and go up to $75 for Club Level seats.

Supercross racing features motocross racing on man made courses that are inside stadiums and arenas. Supercross offers fans off road racing on smaller closed tracks that are located in major cities. Supercross races are shorter than motocross, meaning fewer laps per race. The technical skills and endurance of the riders are challenged throughout the course, which is filled with jumps, hills, tight turns, and obstacles.

The races start at 7 pm. but ticket holders are allowed into the stadium to watch the practice runs and qualifying runs that normally start at noon on race day. About half way through the races a precision stunt team treats the crowd to some high flying big air jumps. In each class, the 40 fastest riders from Timed Qualifying will advance to the evening program (the Fast 40). In the Supercross Class only, a rider who is currently in the Top 10 in points that fails to make the Fast 40 will be placed as 21st gate pick in the first heat race.

The early heats for supercross lites are 6 laps and 8 laps for the larger supercross. The fastest nine riders in each heat advance. At the end of the second heat 20 riders make it to the final heat. The last chance qualifier features 22 riders competing for the final two spots in the finals. The main event in supercross lites have 20 riders going head to head for 15 laps. The main event in supercross has 20 laps and 20 riders.

The battle for the 2009 championship between James Stewart and Chad Reed was decided in the final laps of the race in Las Vegas. Stewart walked away victorious and will be wearing the number 1 on his bike in 2010.
